Fenton High School Lake Shannon Loop

The Lake Shannon Loop, popular on Thursday evenings (6 pm) meets at the high school and is a fantastic 31-1/2 mile jaunt south of Fenton, down into Parshalville and Hartland.

I’ll be straight up, this route has got quite a bit of traffic on it, but it’ll be quiet once you get into the Lake Shannon part of the loop – and they just repaved the entire loop till you get out of the subdivision – the new asphalt is spectacular.  This is typically a very fast route as the hills tend to be more on the “roller” side.  That said, you will get to ride Denton Hill on this route, one of the few real climbs in southeast Michigan.

This photo was taken late in the season, which explains why the sun is so low…

If you’ve only got an hour and a half or two, I can’t recommend this route highly enough.  Especially if you show up on a Thursday evening (just be prepared, normal average is between 20 and 22-mph for that group.
