My best childhood memories, in a childhood full of excellent memories, were vacationing every summer at a cottage in Oscoda, right on Lake Huron. The fresh water beach is shallow out about a quarter of a mile before you start hitting deeper water and sand bars. We would play in the waves all day, every day, for a week.
For a summer vacation, Tawas and Oscoda, Michigan are where it’s at. Find a campground on the beach, park your camper, pop-up, or pitch a tent, and explore till your heart’s content… and after, take a dip in Lake Huron to cool off.
